How the safety mechanism of Safety IV Cannula works:
Introducing the Cannula:
Perform venipuncture as usual with a standard cannula. The hub is colour-coded for quick viewing of the gauge.
Advance the catheter:
slide the catheter off the needle into the vein and secure the catheter.
Withdraw the needle
The needle withdrawn and the shield is automatically activated to lock over the needle tip in the needle chamber.
Dispose:
The needle is already covered and can be thrown into the sharps container without an extra step.
The Safety IV Cannula offered by GSTC is a peripheral IV catheter with a built-in, self-activating needle shield. As the needle is withdrawn right away from the venipuncture, the tip of the needle is protected within a protective chamber. The medical professional does not have to press anything and the procedure blocks the exposed needle tip that can cause needle-stick injuries. It is available in eight ISO 6009 colour coded sizes from 14G to 26G and has a Luer lock connection. It is suitable for hospitals, ICUs and emergency departments and for importers and distributors
