Faqs

Suction catheter is flexible tube is used by doctor to clear mucus or fluids from the airway to help patients breathe.
Doctors do not use suction catheters for urine, they use the urinary catheters such as Foley or the Nelaton catheters for bladder drainage.
The correct method of suctioning is by using sterile technique, applying intermittent suction while removing the catheter, and limiting suction time to avoid tissue injury.
Suction catheter sizes are measured in French (Fr), ranging from 6 Fr to 18 Fr depending on the patient age and clinical need.

Suction catheters are long, thin tubes that medical professionals use to remove all the  mucus, blood, saliva or other secretions present in the patient’s airway. It’s an important tool used in ICUs, operations theatres, neonatal wards, & other emergency departments and post-anaesthesia care units – where a clear, patent airway is required to patient safety.

GSTC offers suction catheters in two designs to adapt to the clinical workflow: Plain (open-end) for regular suctioning and  Thumb Control Valve for procedures needing precise, intermittent control of suction.
